Post n’ Pint Thursday Shop Ride Video

Post n’ Pint is the weekly Thursday night group ride that departs from Dirty Fingers international headquarters at 5:30pm. The group is generally made up of a diverse group of riders ranging from some entry level riders up to some local go getters that can rival some of the fastest bikers in the northwest.

The ride usually takes 1.5 to 2 hours to complete several miles of the road and then 12 to 15 mile loop in Post Canyon, depending on riders levels and daily ambitions. Upon completion of the ride the group returns to Dirty Fingers for frosty mugs filled with the latest beer on a tap.

Check out the video below where Mitchell, shop owner and avid biker, talks about the weekly ride.

2010 Hood River Super D video and photos

Last week I had the opportunity to film the Hood River super d bike race that was the first race of three in the Oregon Super D Series. Leading up to the weekend it was dumping rain in Hood River and left many riders to train and inspect the course in extremely wet and muddy conditions. As Saturday rolled around the rain let up, allowing for races to inspect and ride the course in fair conditions. With the clear weather and a bit of wind on Saturday Post Canyon set up perfect for the Sunday race. All those that raced were greeted with some of the most perfectly tacky and fast dirt the area has to offer.

The race kicked off at 10am with the stacked class of pros eager to crank to the bottom followed by a very fast group of Cat 1 racers. In the end over 150 racers ripped down the course coming through the finish with times between 20min and 40min. Afterwards the competitors were invited to Double Mountain Brewing in downtown Hood River for food and beers that were included in their race entrance. All ‘n all it was beautiful day and an amazing event.

Below is photo album taken by Justus Hyatt and the first version of a recap video I filmed and produced. I should have a final up soon.

Hood River super d mountain bike race on post canyon

It’s official, additional miles and more vert has been added to last years course and the race will now finish at lower Post Canyon. The course drops 3,000 vertical feet in 7 miles, while serving up about 400 feet of climbing. Expect a super fast, challenging race that will have you maxed out the whole way! The Hood River Super D is one of the most scenically spectacular and steepest Super D courses in the country. Many course locations clock riders at over 35 mph! So yes, this is a burly course where expert level skills are often required. This area features very fast and technical trails that have been the focus of major mountain bike videos and magazine publications. Post Canyon is becoming one of the top mountain bike meccas in the country and athletes are continually flocking here to test their skills throughout our diverse network of trails and freeride features. Away from the dirt, this year’s kick-off and post-race parties will take place at Double Mountain Brewery in downtown Hood River with live music, a sponsored demo-zone and award ceremonies happening here; both Saturday and Sunday. Not to mention, NW School of Freeride will be hosting dual pump track races all day on Sunday with finals kicking off after the Super D award ceremonies. Race packets MUST be picked up Saturday at Discover Bicycles, located a couple blocks away from the festivities. Shuttles will transport riders from lower Post Canyon up to the start line beginning around 7am on race day. Car pooling or pedaling from town is highly recommended to reduce traffic congestion on the lower road! More info here

The 2009 Dirty Fingers Camp Out and Ride!

Dirty Fingers Bicycle Repair, “Just a little camp trip to let all you suckers know how much we appreciate taking your money.”

Last year Michtell thought we should end the summer riding season with a group camping trip that combined a bunch of rad people, a keg of beer, some grillin and a ride in some of the most beautiful scenery in the northwest. So as September came around again this year there was no apparent reason not to do it all over again.
